The Volunteer Scholarship
The Volunteer Scholarship was formed in 2001 as a way
to recognize and reward those players that participated in the Tennessee
High School Rugby League and then continued their playing career with
the University of Tennessee Rugby Club. Area colleges and universities
were invited to create scholarships and/or financial assistance for players
that were moving on to college from the high school league. Each year,
the UT Rugby Club Old Boys award scholarships to players that participated
in the THSRL the previous year and are completing their Freshman year
with UT. Recipients are selected based on their contribution to the club
and commitment to excellence in rugby and in the classroom. Each year,
the recipients will receive financial assistance in the amount of $250
that will be applied towards their Fall tuition.
