2008 Volunteer ScholarshipsApril 25, 2008 (Knoxville, TN) - The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club and the Volunteer Rugby Foundation presented the 2008 Volunteer Scholarship Award at its annual awards banquet on Saturday night.The Volunteer Scholarship Award were created in 2001 as a way to support the Tennessee High School Rugby League. All area colleges and universities were invited to create scholarships and/or financial assistance for players that were moving on to college from the high school league. Each year, the UT Rugby Club awards scholarships to players that participated in the THSRL the previous year and are completing their Freshman year with UT. Recipients are selected based on their contribution to the club and commitment to excellence in rugby and in the classroom. To be eligible the student must have been an active dues paying participant with UTRFC for the entire academic year. This year, the recipient(s) will receive a scholarship in the amount of $500 that will be applied towards his Fall tuition.
