University of Tennessee Rugby Club
Awards 2003 Volunteer Scholarships

April 26- The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club and the UT Old Boys Alumni Association presented the 2003 Volunteer Scholarship Award at its annual Old Boy Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

The Volunteer Scholarship Award were created in 2001 as a way to support the Tennessee High School Rugby League. All area colleges and universities were invited to create scholarships and/or financial assistance for players that were moving on to college from the high school league. Each year, the UT Rugby Club Old Boys award scholarships to players that participated in the THSRL the previous year and are completing their Freshman year with UT. Recipients are selected based on their contribution to the club and commitment to excellence in rugby and in the classroom. This year, the recipient(s) will receive a scholarship in the amount of $250 that will be applied towards his Fall tuition.

This year, the UT Old Boys are pleased to award the 2003 Volunteer Scholarship to Luke Woods. Luke played his high school rugby at Brentwood High School and is the second Brumbie to receive this award. Brett Jones of Brentwood, along with Austin Mackens (Riverdale) and Josh Peay (Oakland) were the 2002 recipients.
