University of Tennessee Rugby Club
Awards 2002 Volunteer Scholarships

April 27- The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club presented three Volunteer Scholarship Awards at its annual Old Boy Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

The Volunteer Scholarship Awards were created in 2001 as a way to support the Tennessee High School Rugby League. All area colleges and universities were invited to create scholarships and/or financial assistance for players that were moving on to college from the high school league. Each year, the UT Rugby Club Old Boys award scholarships to players that participated in the THSRL the previous year and are completing their Freshman year with UT. Recipients are selected based on their contribution to the club and commitment to excellence in rugby and in the classroom. This year, each recipient will receive a scholarship in the amount of $250 that will be applied towards their Fall 2002 tuition.

This year, the UT Old Boys are pleased to award the 2002 Volunteer Scholarships to Josh Peay (Oakland Muddogs), Brett Jones (Brentwood Brumbies), and Austin Mackens (Rutherford Co. Chiefs).
