2008 Sexton Scholarship Awards

April 25, 2008 (Knoxville, TN) - The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club announced the recipients of the 2008 Richard Sexton Scholarship at its annual awards banquet on Friday night.

The Sexton Scholarship is awarded each year to players that have distinquished themselves both on and off the field as dedicated club members. This year, each recipient will receive a scholarship of $1200 that will be applied towards their 2008/2009 tuition.

For 2008, Sexton Scholarships are awarded to the following club members:

Andy Melroy (wing) will be beginning his 5th year with UTRFC this fall. Andy will be transitioning to the role of assistant coach for his final year at UT. He is in the Business school at UT.

David Silverstein (center) is a 3rd year player from Memphis, Tn (Houston High School '05) and has just served a year as the team treasurer. David is in the Business school at UT.

Hunter Lee (lock) has also just completed his 3rd year with UTRFC and is a 2005 graduate of Middle Tennesse Christian School (Murfreesboro, TN). Hunter has been elected VP for the 2008/2009 academic year. Hunter is studing Execise Science at UT.

Zack Boswell (prop) has just completed his 3rd year with UTRFC and is a 2005 graduate of Franklin High School where he played rugby. Zack is majoring in Civil Engineering.

Joe McLaughlin (flanker) has just completed his 3rd year with UTRFC and is a 2005 of Father Ryan High School (Brentwood, TN) where he played rugby. Joe is majoring in Chemical Engineering.
