2005 Sexton Scholarship Awards

April 22- The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club announced the recipients of the 2005 Richard Sexton Scholarship at its annual Old Boys Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

The Sexton Scholarship is awarded each year to players that have distinquished themselves both on and off the field as dedicated club members. This year, each recipient will receive a scholarship of $1200 that will be applied towards their 2005/2006 tuition.

For 2005, the UT Old Boys are pleased to award the Sexton Scholarships to Zack Murphy, Jeff Chapman, Josh Peay, and Brett Jones.

Zack, a hooker and flanker, is in his third year at UTRFC and is from the Nashville area where he played high school rugby at Father Ryan. He has just been elected Vice President of the club.

Jeff is also a junior at UT and just finished his third year with the club playing lock. He also played rugby in high school, graduating from Brentwood High School. Jeff has just been elected captain of the side for the 2005/2006 academic year.

Brett, a scrumhalf and flyhalf, is a fourth year player from Brentwood where he played high school rugby for the Brentwood High School. He just completed service as the club's president and has served on the University sports club executive council for the past two years. This is Brett's third Sexton Scholarship.

Josh, a 4th year senior prop from Murfreesboro, is a second time recipient and has just finished service as the club's captain where he led to club to its first ever appearance in the Elite Eight of the USA Rugby National Championship Tournament and also capture the first ever South Territorial Championship.
