2004 Sexton Scholarship Awards
April 24- The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club announced the recipients of the 2004 Richard Sexton Scholarship at its annual Old Boys Awards Banquet on Saturday night.
The Sexton Scholarship is awarded each year to players that have distinquished themselves both on and off the field as dedicated club members. This year, each recipient will receive a scholarship of up to $750 that will be applied towards their 2004/2005 tuition.
For 2004, the UT Old Boys are pleased to award the Sexton Scholarships to Jesse Troxler, Eric Peterson, Josh Peay, and Brett Jones.
Jesse, a hooker and flanker, is in his fourth year at UTRFC and is from the Knoxville area (Karns HS). This is his third Sexton Scholarship having also been presented with this award in 2002 and 2003. He has just completed service as the club's Vice President.
Brett, a scrumhalf and flyhalf, is a third year player from Brentwood where he played high school rugby for the Brentwood HS Brumbies. He just completed service as the club's treasurer and has been elected president for the 2004/2005 year.
Eric, a senior prop from Gallatin, is a first time recipient of the Sexton Scholarship. He is just completing service as the club's secretary.
Josh, a junior prop from Murfreesboro, is another first time recipient and has just finished service as the club's sergeant at arms. He was recently elected Captain for the 2004/2005 campaign.
