2004 Rose Scholarship Awards

April 24- The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club announced the recipients of the 2004 Rose Scholarships at its annual Old Boys Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

The Rose Scholarship is awarded each year to players that have distinquished themselves in the area of strength and conditioning while playing rugby at Tennessee. This award was created and is annual funded by UT Old Boy Jay Blandford, and administered by Mick Larrabee, a specialist in strength and conditioning with the Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics. The overall top performer on the series of strength and conditioning tests receives a $500 scholarship and the second place overall performer receives a $250 award. And, to encourage improved performance, the most improved participant will also be awarded a $250 scholarship.

For 2004, the UT Old Boys are pleased to award the following Rose Scholarship Recipients:

1st Place- Dave Ellis
Dave, a sophomore wing from Brentwood, played high school rugby at Brentwood High and is in his first year with the UT Rugby Club.

2nd Place - Jesse Troxler
Jesse, a hooker and flanker, is in his fourth year at UT and is from the Knoxville area (Karns HS). This is his fourth year with the rugby club.

Most Improved- Michael Ree
MIchael, a junior flanker from Hendersonville, is just completing his first year with the UT Rugby Club.
