2007 Grindstone Scholarships

April 27, 2007 (Knoxville, TN) - The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Club and the UT Old Boys Alumni Association presented the 2007 Grindstone Scholarship Award at its annual Old Boy Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

This is the inaugural year for the Grindstone Scholarship. This award was created as a way to recognize and reward those players that are dedicated to their education and the rugby club. The award will be provided each year to club members with a commitment to UT Rugby and strong work ethic.  The overall intent of the award is to lessen the financial burden for the student athlete that may be working or borrowing to assist in the funding of their education.

This year, UT Rugby is pleased to award the 2007 Grindstone Scholarship to the following students:

Jared Huisingh, a Junior from Knoxville, TN (West High School) majoring in English

Jeff Knotts, a Junior from Maryville, TN (Maryville High School) majoring in Business
