November 8 & 9, 2008 (Birmingham, Alabama) - The Volunteers took a step forward in their fall campaign to reach the finals of the SEC Championship Tournament only to be turned back by a enthusiastic, athletic and well drilled LSU team in the finals. The Volunteers A side reached the finals with decisive victories over Georgia and Florida while the UT B side was on its way to the B side championship match with wins over Florida B and Kentucky A. In the finals, LSU used a combination of good pace in the backline and aggressive forward rucking to defeat the Volunteers in a repeat of the 2007 championship.
The following players were named to the All-SEC Tournament team: Sammy Anderson, Nick Evans, Benji Goff, James Hauge, Matt Johnson, Seth Jones, Stuart Todd and Grant Wood.
