New players are always welcome. All we ask is that you become a member of the club and recognize the Volunteer Rugby Maxim, Principles, and Standards. Any student enrolled at the University of Tennessee is eligible and encouraged to participate in rugby - no experience is required. While there are no tryouts or required testing, rugby is a contact sport that requires a commitment to practice and physical fitness.

Prospective Student Athletes
High School Seniors - With the rapid growth of high school rugby throughout Tennessee and the US, more high school seniors are choosing to continue their education at a college where they can also play rugby at the highest level. We welcome all incoming freshman to the club - both those with experience and those without.
UT Undergraduate Student Admissions

Transfer Students - Additionally, each year students come to the club after transferring from other colleges or universities. We welcome all transferring students to the club and hope they enjoy their experience with UTRFC while they continue their academic work. UT Transfer Student Admissions

Financial Assistance

Academic Common Market - The Academic Common Market is a tuition-savings program for colleges in the sixteen state area served by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). Students in the SREB member states who want to pursue degrees in fields that are not offered by their in-state institutions can enroll in out-of-state universities that offer the specialized degree program, and these students pay only the in-state tuition rates. Scholarships - UTRFC Scholarships are designed to reward players and loyal club members that have established themselves as committed players, good club members, and good students. The Sexton Scholarship is awarded annually to select club members that have demonstrated a long term commitment to the club both on and off the field. The Volunteer Scholarship which is awarded to select players that played in the Tennessee High School Rugby League and have completed one year of participation in UT rugby. The Rose Scholarship is awarded annual to players that demonstrate a commitment to fitness and conditioning and the Grindstone Scholarship is awarded to selected players that have demonstrated a commitment to rugby and an overall strong worth ethic.
