Bo Kennan Caldwell
Amy and Scott Caldwell welcomed Bo Kennan to the world on July 23, 2008. Bo weighed in at 6 lbs, 13 oz and 20 inches long after arriving about a month early. Bo, Amy, Scott and big sister Keller Susanne are all doing great.

Fincher named to two leadership spots
Rep. Henry Fincher (D-Cookeville) has been named chairman of the Civil Practice Subcommittee and secretary of the House Judiciary Committee, two important leadership positions in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Fincher's predecessor in office, former Majority Leader Jere Hargrove, explained the significance of this promotion: "It's very rare for a freshman legislator to be made an officer of any committee, much less an important committee like the Judiciary Committee."
John Sullivan gets hitched!
UT Old Boy John Sullivan married Meghan Jackson on September 22, 2007 in Germantown. The happy couple make their home in Memphis where John is a criminal investigator for the TBI and coaches the Houston High School Rugby Team.

Scott Adcox (President) and Adam Ingle (Match Secretary) have been elected to leadership positions for 2006 with the Knoxville Rugby Club. Chris Gower was elected as VP of Special Projects of the Nashville Rugby Club and Joe Brandt is the Secretary of Johnson City Rugby Club.
Todd and Sarah Van Dyke Introduce Gideon Ross Van Dyke
Todd and Sarah have been preparing and working for the past seven months to adopt a boy from Liberia , on the coast of Western Africa . They were finally able to travel October 8 th to Liberia and pick up their son - Gideon Ross Van Dyke. He is 20 months old and doing well. Take that Angelina and Madonna!!!
Robertson's Celebrate 2nd wedding for 2006
Mr. and Mrs. L. A. (Butch) Robertson are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Emily Jean to John Park Vestal on August 19 at the Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville. The wedding party included Joanna Robertson O'Hagan serving as Matron of Honor and Adrienne and Kathryn Robertson as Bridesmaids. A festive reception featuring heavy hors d'oeuvres and an open bar at the L&N banquet hall punctuated the blessed evening.

Austin Mackens married Jessica Anderson on July 08. They recently relocated to Memphis where Austin will be entering medical school this fall at UT Memphis and Jessica begins teaching at Bolton High School this fall. Eric (BGE) Johnson Moves to Miami
Eric Johnson is now living in Miami
where he is in training to be a pilot in the family owned charter
company- Island Air Service. He recently returned to Knoxville
for the Santa Claus Sevens Tournament where he assembled a team
of like-minded players to capture the 2003 championship!
McIntyre Wins State Championship with Brentwood
Mike McIntyre (OB 79-84) has received
this Level I coaching certification and just completed his first
season as an assistant coach for the state champion Brentwood
High Brumbies.
Weldon Accepts Wrestling Coaching Job at

Mike Weldon has accepted the position
as head coach of the Karns High Wrestling Team. Mike was the
head coach of the Farragut wrestling team and also the Farragut
rugby club in 2002/2003. With his departure to Karns, UT Old
Boy Josh Holt takes over the Farragut
Program while Mike will begin to form a rugby club at Karns!

Peterson Level I Certified Referee
Bill (Yamaha) Peterson has offically
gone to the dark side by receiving his Level I Referee Certification
from USA Rugby...
Becktold Level III Certified Coach
Tim Bechtold just received his USA
rugby level III coaching certification, and his team has won
their LAU (Midwest) for the second straight year and are heading
for the Midwest sweet 16 again. Tim has been there for 3 years
and has a 40-11 A-side record and have outscored their opponents
1,220 to 480. I am heading to Davenport, Iowa this June to start
at Palmer chiropractic School where he'll be a student and on
their coaching satff.
Bowman Level I Certified and a father to be!
Clayton (Butch) Bowman just got
certified as a level I coach by USA Rugby and is coaching Andover
Apaches girl's side (High School level) in Linthicum MD. He is
also working on certification as a referee as well. The biggest
news of all, however, is that he and wife Jennifer have got a
baby on the way due in May!
Gower Elected President
Chris Gower has been elected as
the 2003 President of the Nashville Rugby Club and invites all
Old Boys in the Nashville area to come out and support local
rugby...
Certified High School Coaching List Expands
Clayton (Butch) Bowman earned his
Level I coaching certificate and is coaching the Andover Apaches
girl's side (High School level) in Linthicum MD. Oh yeah, and
he has a baby due in June! Scott Adcox just
completed the Level I coaching clinic and is preparing to form
a club at Karns High School in Knoxville. Bobby
Hampstead also attended a recent clinic and has formed
a club at Powell High School, where his son is a Junior.

Brian Poston has announced his engagement
to Heather McCoy. Brian and "the real McCoy" will be
married on June 28, 2003 in Bristol, VA. Congratulations!
Huskey Reproduces!
Rachel and Tyler Huskey announce the birth
of Jack Lawrence Huskey on 12-30-2002 at 9:00 p.m. He weighed 9 pounds,
six ounces and was 22.25 inches long. Rachel and Jack are both healthy
and feeling fine.

Old Boys Do Battle in High School Sevens Finals
July 13- Jonathan Pledger and Lawrence
Jones each coached teams to the finals of the Tennessee
Sevens High School Championship held in Knoxville on July 13.
Jones' Science Hill team defeated Pledger's Franklin team in
a well earned victory to secure the championship.

July 11- Stephanie and Rob Halcomb wish
to announce the arrival of Ryan Dale (8 lbs, 8 oz)! Mom, Dad,

3 Old Boys Elected as SMAC Directors
Greg Broyles, Art Reynolds, and Ed Everett have
been elected to the inaugural board of directors for the Smoky
Mountain Athletic Club, a non-profit organization representing
the interests of rugby in the Knoxville area. One principle duty
of this group is the development and management of high school
rugby in the Knoxville area.
Barkman Family Expands!
June 25- Erika and Rob Barkman welcomed
Sharon Imani to the world on June 25. Imani weighed in at 9 lbs
and 5 oz. There is no truth to the rumor that she immediately
jumped down and began yelling "With me, with me" while
running sideways across the delivery room......
Bean Gets Hitched!
June 1- Michael Towns (AKA.
Bean) and Heather Painter were married on June 01 in Hartsville,
TN in what was no doubt the social event of the summer in Trousdale
County. The standing room only crowd included coaches, Old Boys
and players: Andy Wiske, Mike Scoutten, Bryan Halfacre, Scott
Randolph, Jason Barnes, Brad Colson, Garry Cornelius, Bill Peterson,
Marty Bradley, and Tom Jallo.
Magdovitz Introduces Future Prop
Nouth and Larry Magdovitz welcomed a new
addition to their family on May 2, 2002. Lawrence M. Magdovitz III ("Trip")
weighed in at 9 1/2 pounds and was 21 1/2 inches long. Larry thinks it's
safe to say that he will not be a back.

March 31- Jennifer and Chris Salter would
like to introduce Hannah Elizabeth Salter! Obviously, they won't
be able to come to old boys this year but send along their hellos
and hope a good time is had by all.
Holt and Jones Head to New Zealand
February 23- Old Boys Josh Holt and Scott Jones have
jumped the pond and are now living and playing rugby in Christ Church,
New Zealand. They plan to stay for three or four months (or until the
kiwis get tired of them and kick them out of the country)...

February 05- Several UT Old Boys are involved in
the high school rugby movement that has swept across the
State of Tennessee. Among them are: Ed
Everett, Mike Dulin, Scott Adcox, Eric Johnson, Mike Weldon,
Mike Merschat, Dwayne Archer, Brian Silkwood, and Adam
Ingle. Plus several former UT players are involved
in the administration of teams and the leagues, including: Chris
Gower, Russ Baumann, Pat Shires, and our very own

Leahy's Son commits to Texas A&M
February 05- Looks like Larry Leahy's
going to have to wait a while to square off against his son on
the rugby fields of Texas. He as just committed to play football
for the Aggies this fall. Congratulations to the entire Leahy

Wengers Announce Newest Edition to Old Boy Family!
September 20-Susan and Mark Wenger have
announced the arrival of John Mark Wenger on September 20, 2001.
John Mark entered the world at 9 lbs, 2 oz and was 19.5 inches
long. Everyone is doing great! It is reported that John Mark
has already started complaining about the backs dropping the
ball...
Harris Joins List of Shackled Old Boys!
September 20- Evan Harris (OB
91-93) will wed Renee Simonetti on October 13 in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Evan is currently practicing law in the Nashville area. Congratulations!
Leahy Still up in the Front Row!
September 01- Larry Leahy,
1972 UT Old Boy, played in the Texas Rugby Union's Div. III Championship
Game as a member of the Victoria Rugby Club. Unfortunately, Victoria
lost 14-13 to Denton RFC where Larry is also a member. His 14
year old daughter Erin recently won a World Championship at the
2001 Pinto World Horse Championship. She's also won two Reserve
National Championships and 5 Top-Ten Awards at the 2001 International
Arabian Youth Championships. Finally, Larry Jr. was recently
listed as one of the nation's top 50 offensive lineman by Alliance
Sports. Larry is a senior at Yoakum High School where he maintains
a 3.81 GPA and stats as offensive guard. We're still hopeful
that Jr. will follow in dad's footsteps and join us here at UTRFC!!!
Clardy Weds!
August 25- Don Clardy married
Jennifer Dunn on August 25 in Greenville, SC. Don is currently
practicing law in Greenville for Gallivan, White & Boyd,
P.A. and playing with the Greenville Griffins. You remember Don-
he was the guy that said "I'll never play rugby again" back
in 1994 or so after he graduated from law school.

Reynolds Awarded Robertson Award
April 28, 2001- Art Reynolds (OB
77-80) has been awarded the Butch Robertson Lifetime Achievement
Award by the UT Old Boys. This award, created in 2000, is designed
to honor an individual's long-term commitment to UTRFC and provides
the UT Old Boys an opportunity to say thanks for years of effort
and dedication to the club. Congratulations to Mr. Reynolds this

Gower Completes Music City Marathon!
April 28, 2001- Chris Gower completed
the 2nd running of the Music City Marathon in 5:28:47. Chris
battled the 86 degree temperatures and some heat exhaustion to
complete the 26.2 mile course. He reportedly compared the last
five miles of the race to one of Butch's practices that follow
Spring Break...
Googe Ties the Knot!
April 21, 2001- Keith Googe (OB
80-83) married Karen Denise Brown in Winston Salem, North Carolina
on April 21, 2001. She obviously never heard about the naked
touch rugby in the snow at the chicken farm... Greg Broyles says
that he still has nightmares from time to time about that particular
practice session.
Cernes Deliver Twins!
April 14, 2001- Steve Cerne (OB
) and wife Christine and the proud parents of Will and Madison
Cerne. The twins were born on April 14 at St. Mary's Hospital
here in Knoxville. We're happy to report that the family is at
home and everyone is doing great!
Cureton Moves to Seattle
Local Rioting is Reported and the City Falls Apart in Earthquake

95-99) has settled in to his new home just outside of Seattle in Renton,
WA. Coincidence that Seattle has experienced area rioting and a 6.8 earthquake
since his arrival? I think not!
Bob Ball Remains International Rugby Player and
Military Specialist
February 12, 2001- Bob Ball (OB
83-88) remains in the military and is currently stationed
in Okinawa. Over the past year he's been in Philippines,
Hawaii, Korea, Thailand, New Zealand and Malaysia. I'd
tell you about his current assignment, but then I'd have
to kill you... He's been spending a lot of time with the
Malaysian Special Operations Police and it is rumored that
he voted Democratic in the last election... He's playing
Rugby for the Exiles RFC in Oki and wanted to say hey.
