The UT B side was outscored by a crafty and hard hitting group of Old Boys and Friends 10-34. UTRFC played 28 players and the Old Boys ran on and off like a hockey line change.

The UT A side took the field looking for a repeat of the close and competitive match in 2004. The UT Old Boys had other ideas an jumped to a quick 14 point lead in the first 10 minutes using their hard charging forward play and timely breaks by the elusive Old Boy backline. Field position held firm in favor of the Old Boys for the duration of the half and the UT defense repeatedly repelled the relentless Old Boy attack. The Old Boys dotted down two additional tries in the half while UTRFC could only manage two penalty kicks from their limited opportunities.

The Old Boys held their lead in the second half using ample substitutions to keep fresh defenders on the field. UT managed to touch down two tries late in the second half to account for the final margin.
